Trondheim

Trondheim is a city in central Norway dating back to the 11th century. It’s one of my favorite cities. There is a Gothic Nidaros Cathedral which is the national sanctuary of Norway. Built over the burial site of St Olaf, Norway’s patron saint, who was King of Norway in the eleventh century, the cathedral was taken over by the Lutheran Church at the Reformation. It is the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world. It’s also where Norway’s Royal Family is coronated. The Cathedral features an ornate rose window and a detailed west façade. The last time I attended, I was able to meet the the bishop Egil Mogstad. I highly recommend spending a few days here. Attending church services on Sunday is a plus.
