The drive from Dombås to Åndalsnes, Norway

Once you fly into Oslo, Norway, to get to where all the relatives are, you have three options: a) fly to Kristiansund or Molde or b) take the NSB train to Åndalsnes and then bus to Molde or c) rent a car and drive. I have chosen the later at least 25 times over the past few years. Typically, the drive would take you eight hours driving at an average 60 speed. Warning! Don’t speed as there are speed monitors all along the E6 to Dombås and then on E136 from Dombås to Åndalsnes. The best time to drive is from May to September when the roads are clear. The drive from Oslo to Dombås is 256 km and there are multiple rest stops along the way. Once you arrive in Dombås be sure to fill up at the Circle K gas station and then visit the beautiful church directly behind the station. Once you’re on the E136, plan an extra hour just to stop and take pictures. The views are breathtaking as you can see here:
